ESS HALT / HASS
Quanta Laboratories performs environmental stress screening using its own patented ESS system, United States patent 5,650,569, awarded in 1997. The largest ESS test system handles a 7 ft rack, and the production line ESS system completes a screening cycle in roughly 10 minutes.
Purpose
HALT, HASS, POS and ESS stress systems accelerate the discovery of design weaknesses and find manufacturing defects before a product reaches the field, reducing cost, improving reliability, shortening time to market and lowering warranty expense.

Quanta's experience
Quanta's patented system addresses the limitations of pneumatic hammer designs, where impact magnitude can vary by as much as 275 percent across the table surface and energy is insufficient to screen effectively across the critical frequency range. The production line system uses accordion support structures to hold multiple boards while ramping quickly between temperature extremes.
